Unlike a pulley, it transfers the braking friction to the upper anchor point, thereby significantly reducing the load on the upper anchor point and anchor sling. During lighter lowering operations (branch removal, lighter wood sections), there is no need for an additional lower friction device or anchor. Operation is simple – the heavier the load being lowered, the more holes the rope is passed through.

No moving parts that could fail or be damaged by hitting a log.
