PATENTED release system under load :
If the ascender needs to be moved downwards, the brake cam can be unblocked with the thumb without the need to completely relieve the ascender.
(In case of excessive load - e.g. the full weight of the user - the forces acting on the cam are so great that its release from the rope is not possible.)
