Grivel is an iconic Italian brand with a history spanning over 200 years, making it one of the oldest manufacturers of mountaineering equipment in existence. The company was founded in 1818 in Courmayeur at the foot of Mont Blanc by the Grivel family, originally blacksmiths who transitioned from making agricultural tools to gear for alpinism and climbing. 

Grivel has played a defining role in the evolution of mountain gear — early on producing modern crampons and ice axes that helped climbers navigate snowy and icy terrain, and later introducing numerous innovations such as anti-balling plates and advanced safety carabiners.

Today, Grivel’s extensive product range includes ice axes, crampons, helmets, carabiners, ice screws, harnesses and a variety of climbing accessories, all engineered for reliability and safety in demanding alpine and outdoor environments.
